The Georgia Schools of Excellence Program honors schools from each of the state's 13 congressional districts. Elementary, middle, and high schools that are either academically superior or demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement are awarded. These schools are honored at a recognition banquet in Atlanta, where they receive a plaque and gifts of appreciation. These schools serve as models for other schools throughout the state.
