Divisions within GaDOE are collaborating to develop a clear, consistent vision for literacy.
Literacy Think Tank: Professors and teacher educators from the University System of Georgia, Technical College System of Georgia, and private institutions of higher education, and the Regional Educational Service Agencies are coming together to serve all teachers in Georgia with research-proven professional learning opportunities. Think Tank Meeting Recording 1.17.19 ELA Advisory Council: This group of educators, school leaders, community partners, and business partners help to shape and communicate the plan. Literacy Fellows: P-12 teachers will collaborate with community organizations including parks, museums, cultural centers, and libraries to increase awareness and access to the wealth of educational resources available throughout the state. Literacy Champions: Pre-K student literacy ambassadors will connect communities, families, and libraries to shape the L4 Mission.
Schools and districts are supported by Regional Education Service Agencies (RESAs), P-20 Partners, and National Writing Project sites as we work collaboratively to improve literacy outcomes for all students.

Literacy improves when educators, families, and community members come together to solve problems that affect children's learning. With support from State agencies and public and private partners, districts and schools should be hubs for communities to come together to support kids.
