150 schools named Governor's SHAPE Honor Roll winners

One-hundred and fifty Georgia schools have been awarded medals in the 2014 Governor’s SHAPE Honor Roll program.

The award recognizes elementary, middle and high schools for their dedication to creating a healthy school environment and a culture of wellness for staff, students, and community. Award winners were recognized for their exceptional participation in the annual fitness assessment data collection process, as well as their commitment to efforts that improve student awareness.

This year, schools were recognized in four tiers: bronze, silver, gold and platinum. Twenty-nine schools received platinum medals, 38 received gold medals, 67 received silver medals and 16 received bronze medals.

Georgia SHAPE is a network of partners, agencies and athletic teams committed to improving the health of Georgia’s young people by offering them the assistance and opportunities needed to achieve a great level of overall fitness.
