Job Title:Education Program Specialist (Accountability - Race to the Top)

Description of Duties:
Under limited supervision, collaborates with stakeholders and other Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) staff to produce  and support federal and state accountability systems such as the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI).  Duties include, but are not limited to, researching accountability issues and the impact on the GaDOE's mission and  compliance with federal and state laws;  working to align Georgia’s Single Statewide Accountability System (SSAS) with Race to the Top initiatives; preparing the CCRPI for the upcoming incorporation of a student growth model; insuring the accuracy of information for the CCRPI reports; supporting schools, LEAs and other stakeholders in understanding and interpreting CCRPI reports;  and representing the Accountability team on committees as assigned.  Note:  This position is funded with the federal Race to the Top grant through September 2014.  
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in education or a related field and three years of professional education experience.  Must hold or be eligible for Georgia Professional Standards Commission certification. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.   Note:  Must submit required certification documentation with resume and cover letter or application.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• School- or district-level leadership experience
• Strong understanding of CCRPI indicators
• Strong understanding of and experience with Georgia's SSAS
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint)
Pay grade 18 – Annual salary range $47, 280.21 (minimum) to $82,962.30 (maximum) paid through Race to the Top funding.  Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment and relevant education/training and work experience.  Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
