Description of Duties:
Under limited supervision by the principal or principal’s designee, duties include but are not limited to: planning, implementing, and facilitating the delivery of school-based guidance and counseling services to students with a vision impairment that may have additional disabilities; conducting individual and small group counseling sessions in accordance with established schedules and Individualized Educational Program (IEP) goals in the areas of academic improvement, peer relationships, and coping skills; coordinating the school’s Character Education Program; serving as the school’s testing coordinator; assisting teachers with interpreting student assessment data in order to plan differentiated instruction; creating/assigning class schedules for students in accordance with high school graduation rules; coordinating graduation/transition plans for students; providing technical assistance to local school systems; serving on faculty committees; tracking graduates’ postsecondary outcomes; providing data as requested in a timely manner; and working additional hours including evenings and weekends as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must hold or be eligible to obtain Georgia Professional Standards Commission certification in school counseling.
Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess the following:
 Georgia Professional Standards Commission certification in visual impairments
 Georgia Professional Standards Commission certification in other special education fields
 Three years of counseling experience
 Experience working with students that are visually impaired or have other special needs
 Experience working with students in a school and/or residential setting

Salary based on years of experience, certification, and number of days worked.  This is a 10-month position paid on a 12-month basis.  Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance; annual/sick leave; and Employees’ or Teachers’ Retirement.
