|Description of Duties:||
Under limited supervision and aligned to school improvement efforts, designs, manages, and coordinates statewide professional learning activities for teachers and leaders to improve student achievement. Duties include, but are not limited to, providing overall leadership and collaborating with the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) and other agencies to provide systems and schools guidance and training for school improvement; managing/supervising professional staff; ensuring effective collaboration with Regional Education Service Agencies (RESAs) and GaDOE staff and programs, particularly the GaDOE Regional Support Teams and Leadership Facilitators; developing both immediate and long-range strategic plans for professional learning activities; and providing leadership and coordination for the following school improvement activities:
• Coordinating development, design and implementation of teacher and leader training
• Coordinating state training for system and school instructional leaders
• Identifying and collaborating with exemplary educators to assist with training
• Coordinating and providing all trainers with content knowledge and skills for delivery of professional learning
• Developing and supporting state school improvement specialists working with high priority schools
Note: This position is funded as part of the federal Race to the Top grant through September 2014.
Master’s degree in education, education administration or a related field and a minimum of three years of experience in a supervisory or administrative role in professional learning/staff development at the school, system, or state level. Must have working knowledge of current research on school improvement and professional learning initiatives/programs and knowledge of performance standards and instructional design. Must be self-directed and self-motivated with a strong work ethic. Must hold or be eligible for Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) certification. Note: Must submit a copy of GaPSC certification with resume and cover letter or with application.
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, have experience in the following:
• Experience piloting and building capacity to implement Teacher and Leader Keys Evaluation Systems
• Education Specialist or higher degree
• Experience with K-12 school improvement programs
• Experience implementing comprehensive school reform programs or initiatives
• Strong knowledge of the Federal No Child Left Behind Act
• Five or more years of experience in a building-level or system-level leadership role
• Successful experience with designing, planning, developing, and conducting professional learning programs
• that are job-embedded and focused on impacting student achievement
• Experience with training and supporting professional staff as well as training module development
• Experience with performance standards and instructional design
Pay grade 19 – Annual salary range $52,172.55 (minimum) to $91,137.94 (maximum). Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment, relevant education/training and work experience, and available funding.
