Description of Duties:
Under general supervision, manages the maintenance department for the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf.  Duties include, but are not limited to,  planning, scheduling, monitoring, and implementing maintenance activities; supervising the maintenance staff;  performing routine checks for painting, carpentry, and roofing needs for facility; supervising the construction and operation of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment (HVAC) and controls of assigned facilities; supervising construction, renovations, repairs and cleaning performed by contractors at assigned facilities; assisting in the development of annual budgets by determining the construction, maintenance and/or repair needs of the assigned facilities; reviewing blueprints and determining the location for the installation of equipment and inspecting completed work; supervising the inventory and ordering of materials, tools, equipment, and supplies needed to make repairs to the physical facilities or needed for general daily housekeeping maintenance; coordinating work orders; assigning maintenance personnel for completion of projects; monitoring vehicle and bus maintenance;  maintaining security and fire alarm systems; ensuring that all operational checks and maintenance tasks are performed for the boiler operations; and maintaining accurate records logs, updated manuals,  and catalogs for repairs and maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Completion of a high school diploma or GED; and
• 2 years of experience in HVAC; and 
• Experienced using Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel; and 
• Must be able to lift 75 – 100 pounds; and 
• Willing to learn sign language
Preferred Qualifications:
• Must possess a valid Georgia Driver’s License.
• Sign language skills at the intermediate level measured by the Sign Language Proficiency Instrument
Salary/Benefits:
Pay grade 14 - Annual salary range $32,418.30 (minimum) to $56,724.24 (maximum).  Starting salary is based on training, certification and years of experience.  This is a 12 month position.  Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance; annual/sick leave; and Employees’ Retirement.
