Description of Duties:
Under general supervision of the program manager and assigned area consultant(s), provides administrative support and technical assistance for School Nutrition staff.  Duties include, but are not limited to, providing technical support for users of the USDA ordering system; actively participating as a member of the staff team responsible for conducting the required federal reviews of local school districts; providing basic technical assistance to local school system personnel on the use of various computer software programs utilized by the school nutrition program; conducting basic research into program requirements and technical areas of program management for effective program management;  monitoring procedures required of school systems, such as the inspection reports, inventory balances, wellness policies, etc.; formatting, typing, and editing complex manuals and documents for publication; performing general office functions as needed and requested; and performing other duties as assigned. This fast-paced, accountability-driven environment requires an organized, positive individual who is a team player and is comfortable multitasking and receiving direction from the program manager, the division director, and area consultants.  This position may require some in-state travel.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience related to area of assignment OR an Associate’s Degree in business administration or a related field.  Must have strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and effective communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• Experience providing technical assistance to end users
• Experience with electronic database management
• Working knowledge of Georgia Department of Education School Nutrition business processes and specialized computer systems used to capture and report local system nutrition data.
• Two years of full-time administrative support experience with the  Department of Education or comparable position with another state agency or local school district
• Associates degree or two or more years of post-secondary education
Pay grade 10 – Annual salary range $22,077.93 (minimum) to $38,661.83 (maximum).  Hiring range is $22,077.93 to $30,500.00.   Starting salary dependent on current employment, training, experience, and available funding.  Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
