Job Title:Migrant Education Regional Data Specialist

Description of Duties:
Under general supervision, operates Host Computer/COEstar data management system in the migrant education program (MEP) regional office.  Duties include, but are not limited to, entering and verifying for accuracy eligible student data from the Certificate Of Eligibility (COE); managing, maintaining, and coordinating the delivery of COEstar student records information to migrant staff and school system administrators in regional area, as well as to State Data Specialists; attending and participating in training on hardware and software as needed for optimal use of the system; transferring records as requested by other states/schools outside regional area - mail, fax, or e-mail; develops and maintains logs and reports; provides job-related program specific assistance, and occasional training, to school district personnel; provides administrative support to regional office staff by answering phone(s), taking and relaying messages, greeting visitors, and answering routine questions; preparing program reports as required; assisting in the maintenance and maintaining of regional office files and paperwork; and performing other duties as assigned.  This position requires occasional regional and/or statewide travel.
Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of a certificate from a vocational/technical school in clerical/secretarial support or a related area OR completion of 90 quarter hours (60 semester hours) of business school or college OR eighteen months experience performing general office work which included duties such as secretarial, clerical, automated communication equipment usage, and/or business management.  Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.  Experience may substitute for education if evaluated as equivalent. 
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• High school diploma
• Knowledge about federal and state migrant education program guidelines and requirements
• Three or more years of experience in working with computer information systems and electronic database management
• Excellent organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to successfully collaborate with school personnel, staff, students, and other support agencies
• Demonstrated competency in self-motivation/initiative
• College-level coursework/study in computer information systems and programming
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
• Experience working with local or state migrant education program services
Salary/Benefits:
Pay grade 10 - Annual salary range $22,077.93 (minimum) to $38,661.83 (maximum).  Hiring salary range is $22,077.93 to $30,900.00, commensurate with current employment, relevant education/training and work experience, and available funding.  Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
