Job Title:Education Program Specialist (Title III/ESOL)

Description of Duties:
Under general to limited supervision, provides quality leadership and assistance to K-12 local school systems in comprehensive program planning for Title III language support programs.  Duties include, but are not limited to, providing technical assistance and expertise to local school system personnel; designing and implementing program monitoring and reporting procedures; identifying school systems’ staff development training needs and providing/conducting professional learning activities; collaborating with ESOL teachers, other instructional staff, administrators, and other agencies/organizations to ensure the implementation of program goals and guidelines; reviewing school district Title III applications and budget requests; and maintaining clear and positive communication between the Georgia Department of Education, the U.S. Department of Education , Regional Education Service Agencies (RESAs), local school systems, and schools.  Note: Statewide travel is required.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) professional educator’s certification; a Master’s degree in education, education administration, english, reading, a foreign language or a related field and five (5) years of full-time professional level work experience with Title III programs at a K-12 school, district or system level.  Note: Must submit a copy of GaPSC certification with cover letter, resume and salary; applicants who fail to submit required GaPSC documentation will not be considered
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• Education Specialist or higher degree
• Documented successful experience in a leadership role in ESOL programs at a system or state level
• Strong knowledge of the Federal No Child Left Behind Act and Title III section of the Office for Civil Rights
• Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)
• Strong knowledge of statistical data analysis and database utilization
Pay Grade N – Annual salary range is $52,331 (minimum) up to $91,579 (maximum).  *Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment, relevant education/training and work experience; and available funding.  Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
