Job Title:Driver/Special Assistant to State Schools Superintendent

Description of Duties:
Under limited supervision, uses independent judgment and initiative to perform a variety duties in support of the State Superintendent of Schools. This environment requires an organized individual who is skilled at multitasking and receiving direction from the Superintendent and Chief of Staff.  This position is responsible for driving the Superintendent to events. Duties include, but are not limited to, manages transportation arrangements and travels with the Superintendent; prepares daily briefing and manages Superintendent’s calendar; schedules meetings and responds to meeting requests from a variety of stakeholders; schedules school and community organization visits; organizes and prepares materials for school visits and meetings; coordinates and compiles information and maintains database of contacts and meeting/event attendees.  Manages event photography.  Takes meeting notes as requested/necessary for Superintendent and/or Chief of Staff; coordinates preparation of meeting information with Director of Communications/Communications team; assists communications team with advisory councils; responds to information requests about the GaDOE and Superintendent as appropriate; attends training as appropriate and other duties as requested or assigned by the Superintendent of Schools and the Chief of Staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
An Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of lead worker/supervisory experience in a customer service setting communicating information -OR- Four (4) years of lead worker/supervisory experience in a customer service setting communicating information. 
*NoteMust have clean driving history.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• An Associate’s degree  or higher in business, communication or a related field
• Experience providing support for senior-level or executive-level managers in a state government agency or a local school system
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
• Successful experience as key administrative support to multiple managers and staff in a busy office environment
• Positive driver’s history
• Valid passport for international travel
Salary/Benefits:
**Target hiring salary range is $32,130 up to $49,165 and is commensurate with current employment, relevant education/training, work experience and available funding.  Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
