Description of Duties:

Under general direction, performs professional, advanced-level, financial-related, performance-related audits in accordance with Generally Accepted Governmental Auditing Standards.  Conducts financial and record-keeping training and communicates any updates of fiscal management policies to local education agencies; works with audit supervisor and staff to develop content and course material for workshops; reviews and edits budget and financial reports; provides on-site financial and technical assistance; and conducts follow-up and closure of federal and state audits of grant recipients; responsible for researching and updating chart of accounts and financial reports.  Prepares census and survey reports of financial and budget data of local educational agencies.

Note:  This position may be filled at full-time status (40 hours per week) with benefits or at half-time status (20 hours per week) no benefits.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Master’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance or a closely related field and from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of professional related experience; -OR- completion of a bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or closely related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of experience; -OR- Six (6) years of experience in a related area -OR- one (1) year of experience at a level equivalent to State of Georgia Auditor 3.   Note:  Must have a good working knowledge of interpreting, creating and managing spreadsheet applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• 10+ years working directly in the business office of a local educational agency
• Experience in governmental accounting, including financial statement preparation
• Certified Public Accountant certification
• Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint)

NoteThis position may be filled at full-time status (40 hours per week) with benefits or at half-time status (20 hours per week) no benefits. 
Pay grade L – Annual full-time salary range is $40,983 (minimum) up to $71,720 (maximum).  *Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment, relevant education/training and work experience and available funding.  Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
