Description of Duties:
Under limited general supervision, the Early Literacy program specialist provides leadership and support for communication and implementation of the English Language Arts (ELA) Early Literacy plan in accordance with the Georgia Department of Education’s (GaDOE) strategic plan. Duties include, but are not limited to, communicating, developing resources, developing and coordinating professional learning; evaluating and monitoring professional learning effectiveness; planning and providing services to schools and school systems; developing and fostering effective relationships with local school systems and other education entities; reviewing, developing, and updating ELA web-based content, resources and assessment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must hold or be eligible for a Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) professional educator’s certification; a Master’s degree in education, educational leadership, early childhood education, reading or a related field and five (5) years of recent full-time experience with K – 5 reading and/or elementary education programs in a professional capacity at the school, district, or state level, and evidence of success in effective development and delivery of professional learning for a variety of stakeholders. Working knowledge of social media platforms and trends and literacy assessments. Outstanding presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. 
Note:  Must submit a copy of GaPSC certification with cover letter, resume and salary; applicants who fail to submit required GaPSC documentation will not be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess the following:
• Georgia professional educator certification in reading and or early childhood
• Experiences as an early literacy instructional leader, such as Grade-Level Chair or ELA curriculum director, implementing K – 5 English Language Arts standards and curriculum
• Recent teaching or literacy coaching experience in an elementary school setting
• Experience managing professional learning programs/activities
• Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point)
• Supervisory experience as an early literacy coach/instructional leader, elementary administrator either at the school or district level or a Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA)
Salary/Benefits:
Pay Grade N - Annual salary range $52,331(minimum) up to $91,579 (maximum).  **Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment, relevant education/training and work experience, and available funding. Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
