Job Title:Community Engagement Specialist- Literacy for Learning, Living and Leading (L4GA)

Description of Duties:
Under limited general supervision by the Project Director, the L4GA Community Engagement Specialist will work with L4GA team as well as across the Division to develop and implement the L4GA program; develops communications electronically and/or in-person with all stakeholders; assists the project director and Local Education Agencies (LEA’s) with developing strategic LEA/community partnerships.  Assists in all areas of sub-grant competition administration; assists in planning for professional learning opportunities and scheduling and attending site visits for technical assistance or monitoring purposes; multi-task in a fast-paced office environment with competing priorities and deadlines.  Note:  Limited statewide travel is required.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in business, communication, education, public administration or a related field from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of related experience to area of assignment (e.g. working with communities developing early childhood programs and literacy outreach partnerships).  An equivalent combination of education and/or experience that provided the knowledge and competencies to successfully perform this job may be evaluated and substituted on a year for year basis.  Note:  Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and strong computer skills.  Must be able to successfully multi-task in a fast-paced office environment with competing priorities. 
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• Experience working with local community organizations, agencies, partners and/or non-profit organizations
• Highly effective interpersonal, group, verbal and written communications skills
• Demonstrated and advanced-level experience using all forms of social media and technologies
• Experience with populations serving birth to grade 12
• Strong work ethic, self-directed, and self-motivated
• Experience and demonstrated success in team building and continuous improvement processes
Pay Grade L – Annual salary range is $40,983 (minimum) up to $71,720 (maximum).  *Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment, relevant education/training and work experience; and available funding.  Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
