Description of Duties:
Under broad direction, provides effective and dynamic leadership for the Office of Assessment and Accountability.  The Deputy Superintendent of Assessment and Accountability will oversee, plan, and direct the development, implementation, and analysis of the state’s K-12 accountability and assessment systems. Provide strong leadership to the teams that make up the Office of Assessment and Accountability by carrying out duties that include, but are not limited to:
• Articulating and carrying out the Georgia Department of Education’s (GaDOE) vision, mission, and goals;
• Managing multiple, and often overlapping, test administrations, data collections, division operations, and contracts, budgeting processes;
• Ensuring the timely release, accuracy, and technical quality of state and federal assessment and accountability-related measures, reports, and data
• Understanding of state and federal assessment and accountability requirements
• Articulating and communicating complex information regarding policies/plans to education stakeholders and policymakers
• Collaborating with other areas of GaDOE as well as state and federal agencies and organizations
Minimum Qualifications:
• Must be a GaDOE Employee.
• Specialist degree in education, psychology, research, measurement, statistics or a related field and a minimum of five (5) years of related experience in a leadership role managing complex education programs and initiatives in a fast-paced environment. 
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• Ph. D. in education, psychology, research, measurement, statistics, or a related
• Executive level management of budgets and programs of considerable size and complexity
• Executive level project management involving planning, organizing, coordinating, and evaluating large-scale, critical projects from conception to implementation
• Deep knowledge of the state’s K-12 assessment and accountability systems as well as state and federal requirements (ESSA)
• Demonstrated experience in managing all phases of customized assessment and accountability programs at the state level
Salary/Benefits:
Annual salary is commensurate with current employment, relevant education/training, work experience and available funding.  Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
