Job Title:Education Research and Evaluation Specialist (School Nutrition)

Description of Duties:
Under limited supervision, conducts program evaluation activities and identifies statewide technical assistance and training needs for K-12 school nutrition programs.  Duties include, but are not limited to, conducting research; coordinating surveys and polls; conducting needs assessments; analyzing data for use in state planning and budgeting activities; developing materials as outlined in the School Nutrition Division strategic plan; serving as research, evaluation, and training specialist for institutional food and  nutrition services management; evaluating and recommending training development and delivery technology; developing and writing copy for publication; creating and executing contracts as assigned in the Department’s database; coordinating course approval and liaising with designated colleges/universities and the  Georgia Professional Standards Commission (PSC) regarding State Board of Education Rules defining the School Nutrition Director Certification; staying abreast of federal and state rules, regulations, and policy and trends in the food and nutrition arena with regard to training issues; and planning, developing, and evaluating special projects for operational improvement in state and local school nutrition programs.  
Minimum Qualifications:
A Master’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, institutional food service management, or a related field and two (2)  years of experience at a local school system, state agency or college/university conducting program research and/or evaluation activities for food service programs -OR- a Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, institutional food service management, or a related field and four (4) years of experience at a local school system, state agency or college/university conducting program research and/or evaluation activities for food service programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)
• Eligibility for the Georgia Educator Certification as School Nutrition Director
• Knowledge of school nutrition programs and policies 
• Experience interpreting state and federal laws and regulations
• Experience planning and conducting adult training/staff development activities, meetings and conferences.
• Knowledge of statistical analysis methods and software
• Experience in conducting literature searches and other research using electronic technology
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint)
• Experience constructing and executing contracts
Pay grade M – Annual salary range $46,311 (minimum) to $81,044 (maximum).  *Hiring salary range is commensurate with current employment and relevant education/training and work experience and available funding.  Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
