Description of Duties:
Under general supervision, uses independent judgment and initiative to provide personal assistance and advanced administrative support to the Deputy State Superintendent of Schools for Finance and Business Operations. Duties include serving as the communications link between the Deputy Superintendent and internal/external contacts; creating and maintaining electronic databases using Microsoft Excel and Access;  making arrangements for appointments, conferences, and travel; conducting comprehensive clerical research using the Internet, electronic files, and other readily accessible sources; composing, typing, and distributing correspondence, memos, and reports; proofreading and correcting correspondence and other documents; developing office procedures that promote efficient and effective operations; processing incoming and outgoing mail and/or materials for the Deputy Superintendent; completing a variety tasks and assignments associated with administrative support functions in areas such as personnel, budget, bookkeeping, and purchasing/procurement and establishing and maintaining effective filing and record-keeping systems and reference manuals/materials; preparing information for State Board of Education meetings; and providing administrative support to Budget Office staff to include assisting with electronically filing procurement paperwork bids, PeopleSoft Security/role requests; creating Power Point presentations for training and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
An Associate’s degree in business from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of experience of experience in advanced-level secretarial, clerical, and administrative support duties which included using independent judgment to process and interpret information; -OR four (4) years of experience in advanced-level secretarial, clerical, and administrative support duties which included using independent judgment to process and interpret information.  Note:  Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• Strong computer skills including developing and maintaining electronic databases with Microsoft Excel and/or Access
• Experience providing administrative support to executive-level administrator(s)
• Experience with State of Georgia PeopleSoft Purchasing/Procurement Modules
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Successful experience providing advanced administrative support in a fast-paced office environment that required multi-tasking, prioritization of work, and strong organizational skills 
Pay Grade H – Annual salary ranges from $27,249 (minimum) up to $47,685 (Maximum).  *Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment, relevant education/training and work experience and available funding.  Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
