Description of Duties:
Provides general guidance/supervision for local districts to ensure compliant policies, procedures and practices that comply with federal regulations and state rules. Provides leadership and coordination in the development and administration of statewide special education programs and mandates such as Georgia’s Student Success: Imagine the Possibilities, Disproportionality and Cross Functional Monitoring.  Duties include assisting in the continuous improvement monitoring process as it relates to students with disabilities.   Providing oversight for the following:  district review of policies, procedures and practices; development of corrective action plans; correction of noncompliance in a timely manner; appropriate development of plans and use of funds as required per state or federal mandates; and timely and accurate data submissions.  Must also be able to prepare guidelines, memoranda, reports, and presentation materials.  Conduct training and staff development activities for local districts.  Personnel must be able to complete required job duties with limited supervision.  Some travel may be required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a current GaDOE employee.  Must hold or be eligible for Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) professional educator’s certification; a Master’s degree in education, education administration or a related field and five (5) years of professional experience in a special education capacity or setting.  *Must submit a copy of GaPSC certificate/certification or GaPSC eligibility certificate/certification with cover letter, (application) resume and salary history; applicants who fail to submit required GaPSC documentation will not be considered
 
Note Must demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills and technology competencies to administer the grant activities as well as a basic understanding of assessment, data analysis and program evaluation strategies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• Experience in staff development/professional learning for special education and general education
• Experience at the school, local district, or state level in supervising/monitoring for compliance with federal and state rules  
   and regulations.
• Georgia professional educator certification in special education
• Excellent oral and written communications skills
• Excellent presentation skills
Salary/Benefits:
Pay Grade N – Annual salary range is $52,331 (minimum) up to $91,579 (maximum).  *Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment, relevant education/training and work experience; and available funding.  Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
