Description of Duties:
Under limited supervision, applies professional expertise to activities and projects related to the development of assessment resources for kindergarten through fifth grade. Ensures alignment of resources to state-adopted content standards. Oversees and directs assessment development activities. Develops, coordinates and evaluates work plans, procedures, documents, and program activities. Develops and delivers professional learning related to state assessment programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Testing/Assessment Specialist 1 - A Master’s degree in education, educational administration, curriculum and instruction, or a related field, AND two  (2) years of professional education experience in K-12 teaching and learning and/or assessment at the school, district, or state level; demonstrated knowledge and practice in standards-based teaching and learning, including in-depth understanding of assessment practices.
 
Testing/Assessment Specialist 2 - A Master’s degree in education, educational administration, curriculum and instruction, or a related field, AND five (5) years of professional education experience in K-12 teaching and learning and/or assessment at the school, district, or state level; demonstrated knowledge and practice in standards-based teaching and learning, including in-depth understanding of assessment practices.
 
Note: Doctorate-level coursework in educational measurement/research, psychology, or a related field may be substituted for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis. Position will be filled as Level 1 or Level 2 based on candidate’s qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• Experience as an instructional leader, such as department chair or curriculum director, implementing state-adopted content standards in Grades K-5 English Language Arts and/or Mathematics
• In-depth knowledge of state content standards in K-5 English Language Arts and/or Mathematics
• Experience with district and/or state level test development and administration
• Experience with game-based or other technology-enhanced assessments
• Experience managing projects in a fast-pace work environment with short deadlines and multiple priorities
• Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) 
• Experience effectively collaborating with multiple stakeholders
• Education specialist or higher degree
Salary/Benefits:
Pay Grade N- Annual salary ranges from $52,331 (minimum) up to $91,579. (maximum).  *Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment and relevant education/training, work experience and available funding.  Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
