Description of Duties:
Under limited supervision, applies professional expertise to activities and projects related to the Georgia Milestones Assessment System, ACCESS for ELs 2.0, and the Georgia Alternate Assessment (GAA). Develops, coordinates, and evaluates work plans, procedures, documents, and program activities for the development, implementation, and administration of large-scale summative state assessment programs. Provides assistance to local school systems and Department of Education staff; oversees, in collaboration with the GaDOE test development team, item and form development activities, test administration procedures, scoring, and reporting related to the GAA and ACCESS for ELs 2.0.  Ensures proper alignment of test items to content standards; interprets data, communicates results, produces reports, monitors contracts, and develops support activities regarding test administration.  Also, provides assistance with other testing programs within the department.
Minimum Qualifications:
Testing/Assessment Specialist 1 – A Master’s degree in education, educational administration, curriculum and instruction, educational measurement/research, psychology, or a related field and two (2) years professional work experience in large-scale assessment, curriculum development and implementation and/or education program evaluation; excellent oral and written communications skills; proficient in Microsoft Office.
 
Testing/Assessment Specialist 2 – A Master’s degree in education, educational administration, curriculum and instruction, educational measurement/research, psychology, or a related field and five (5) years professional work experience in large-scale assessment, curriculum development and implementation and/or education program evaluation; excellent oral and written communications skills; proficient in Microsoft Office.
 
Note:  Doctorate-level coursework in educational measurement/research, psychology, or a related field may be substituted for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.  Position will be filled as Level 1 or 2 based on candidate’s qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• System or school experience in K-12 education
• Experience in contract management
• Experience with district and/or state-level test administration
• Experience with district and/or state-level online test administration
• System or school experience with assessment of special populations (EL and/or students with disabilities)
• System or school experience with ESOL education and EL students
• System or school experience with students with disabilities
• Knowledge in educational research
Salary/Benefits:
Pay Grade N- Salary ranges from $52,311 (minimum) up to $91,579 (maximum).  *Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment and relevant education/training and work experience and available funding.  Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
