Description of Duties:
Provides general supervision for local districts to ensure compliant policies, procedures and practices that comply with federal regulations and state rules. Provides leadership and coordination in the development and administration of statewide special education programs and mandates such as Georgia’s Student Success: Imagine the Possibilities, supporting identified targeted schools/districts in collaboration with School and District Effectiveness, supports implementation of High-Leverage Practices in Special Education, Disproportionality and Cross Functional Monitoring.  Duties include assisting in the continuous improvement monitoring process as it relates to students with disabilities.  Providing oversight for the following:  district review of policies, procedures and practices; development of corrective action plans; correction of noncompliance in a timely manner; appropriate development of plans and use of funds as required per state or federal mandates; and timely and accurate data submissions.  Must also be able to prepare guidelines, memoranda, reports, and presentation materials.  Conduct training and staff development activities for local districts.  Personnel must be able to complete required job duties with limited supervision. 
Note: All applicants MUST specify a Region in their cover letter.  Positions will be field-based primarily serving assigned region but statewide travel will be required. 
Minimum Qualifications:
Must hold or be eligible for Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) professional educator’s certification; a Master’s degree in education, education administration or a related and five (5) years of experience in a professional education capacity in special education.  *Must submit a copy of GaPSC certificate/certification or GaPSC eligibility certificate/certification with cover letter, (application) resume and salary history; applicants who fail to submit required GaPSC documentation will not be considered
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in staff development/professional learning for special education and general education
• Systems coaching experience to support continuous improvement
• Experience in data analysis and effective use
• Strong knowledge of evidence-based practices and the organization/implementation of evidence-based practices to fidelity
• Experience at the school, local district, or state level in supervising/monitoring for compliance with federal and state rules and regulations.
• Leadership experience at the school, district or state level (Minimum of three years)
• Georgia professional educator certification in special education
• Excellent oral and written communications skills
• Excellent presentation skills
Pay Grade N – Annual salary ranges from $52,331 (minimum) up to $91,579 (maximum).  *Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment, relevant education/training and work experience; and available funding.  Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
