Job Title:Lead School Effectiveness Specialist

Description of Duties:
Under the direction of the School & District Effectiveness Program Manager, actively diagnoses the issues within schools and deploys various specialized School Effectiveness Specialists to provide intensive technical assistance geared toward building capacity.  This position monitors the progress of identified schools both onsite and online using Indistar©; makes technical assistance recommendations based on the individual needs of the schools; approves and monitors the 1003 funds; and deploys and manages a regional school effectiveness team.  Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to,
• Conducting interviews, classroom observations, and document/data reviews (GSAPS, School Improvement Plans, Indistar© Indicators, SLDS);
• Assuring the effective implementation of the school improvement plan that includes measurable long-term goals and short-term objectives as well as aligned strategies, activities, milestones, professional development plans, and budgets;
• Using Indistar© to monitor implementation of the school improvement plans and strategies, and to maintain the focus and ongoing modification of the plan as new data become available;
• Coordinating regional professional learning to support the needs of identified schools;
• Ensuring that school systems are aligning the use of federal funds to support research-based strategies that improve teaching and learning; and
• Actively managing and developing staff
All applicants MUST specify a Region in their cover letter.  Positions will be field-based primarily serving assigned region.  Note:  Regional travel and some statewide travel is required and may be extensive
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have and/or is eligible for Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) professional educator certification.  A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, education administration public administration or a related administrative field and five (5) or more years of experience in a position of K-12 educational leadership. Note:  Must submit a copy of GaPSC certification with cover letter, resume and salary or with application and salary history.  *Applicants who do not submit the required GaPSC document will not be considered.
Additional information:  Must have extensive knowledge of school turnaround principles; excellent communication skills; strong interpersonal skills, excellent problem-solving skills, and experience in consensus building.  Must have the ability to analyze data; motivate and lead a diverse learning community; work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously; and the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders both at the school and district office level.  
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, posses one or more of the following:
• Georgia Professional Standards Commission certificate in educational leadership at level L-5, L-6, or L-7
• Education Specialist or higher degree
• Three (3) years of experience as a principal at a K-12 school with a record of student performance gains
• Experience successfully coaching both new and experienced teachers
• Experience at the state, district or RESA level in school improvement
• Experience at working with district level professional staff with a focus on instruction and/or leadership
• Strong knowledge base of best practices in leadership and standards-based instruction
• Demonstrated success in team building
• Experience in data analysis and the organization and implementation of major school initiatives
• Experience working with adult learners
• Strong work ethic, self-directed, and self-motivated
• Knowledge of state and federal guidelines, including the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
Pay grade N – Annual salary range $52,331 (minimum) to $91,579 (maximum).  *Target hiring salary is $80,000 and is commensurate with current employment, relevant education/training and work experience and available funding.  Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
