Description of Duties:Under general supervision, manage a school food service operation in an organized and efficient manner. Duties include, but are not limited to: Directs the activities of food service staff while meeting state and division requirements; attends in-service trainings and workshops; supervises food service operations to ensure that food is served in a safe and sanitary environment; completes and submits accurately all required daily, weekly and monthly food service reports according to established deadlines; directs the preparation of food according to standardized recipes and established food preparation procedures; assesses the appropriate quantity of food to order, prepare and serve according to projected meal counts; receives and verifies all deliveries and addresses unsatisfactory products or services; prepares invoices for payment in a timely manner according to established procedures; secures substitute personnel when needed to ensure that food is served appropriately; provides regular updates and all supporting information to the school administrator according to established procedures; evaluates the performance of other food service workers; provides instruction direction and coaching when needed for other food service workers; and reports supply needs in a timely fashion; and reports any essential repairs for equipment. Important: Nutrition Employees orientation training must be successfully completed in accordance with Georgia Department of Education requirements within one (1) year of hire. Georgia Department of Education Training-in-Depth core courses (l -4) certification must be obtained within four (4) years of employment. Serve Safe Certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment and remain valid throughout duration of employment [requires renewal every five (5) years.
Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or GED AND Three years of experience working in an instructional/childcare setting OR Three years of experience required at the lower level.
Preferred Qualifications:• Valid Culinary Certification, Associate Degree in Dietetics, Food and Nutrition, Institutional Food Service or closely related arc or the equivalent work experience of Five (5) or more years’ experience in Institutional School Nutrition, two (2) of which were as Manager or Lead worker. • SERV Safe Certified or equivalent and valid throughout duration of employment [Renewal every five (5) years]. • Established ability to establish and/or implement sanitary practices for food handling; general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas; • Established ability to use relevant computer applications; • Ability to maintain confidentiality; • Ability to prioritize assignments; manage multiple tasks simultaneously; read and follow directions; meet all safety regulations; and • Ability stand for periods of three (3) hours without breaks. • Ability to lift 30 1bs. • Strong written and verbal communication and proficient computer skills
Salary/Benefits: Pay Grade K: Annual salary range $36,268.09 (minimum) to S63,469.15 (maximum). This is a 12-month position paid on a semi-monthly basis. Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment, relevant education/training, work experience and available funding. Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance; annual/sick leave; and employees Retirement or Teachers Retirement.
