Description of Duties:Under broad supervision, plans, coordinates, oversees and develops the statewide Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) School Nutrition (SN) Farm to School (F2S) Program team activities in a variety of education program entities. Performs needs assessment, effectiveness studies, facilitation of educational planning, resource networking and awareness sessions with entity personnel. • Coordinates the development and implementation of policies and procedures for effective/efficient service delivery to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) in the area of Farm to School. • Advises LEAs in the development and implementation of grant applications, contracts, proposals, budgets, and program plans • Reviews reports and conducts site visits to monitor the performance of program projects activities • Develops, administers and refines the F2S Strategic Plan, including program development, financial oversight, staff support, community development, allied association collaboration and public relations. • Liaison with internal and external partners including but not limited to GaDOE, USDA, Georgia Department of Agriculture, Georgia Department of Public Health, Georgia Organics, local farmers, procurement officers and food-based educational leaders. • Develops lesson plans for use by local teachers in the area of school gardens, farm to school and purchasing locally grown products. • May also represent the School Nutrition Program on national/state/local committees. • Extensive travel within the state is required and occasional travel out of state is expected. • This position is eligible for participation in the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) Telework program. • Candidates for this position must comply with the GaDOE Telework Policy.
Minimum Qualifications:Master's degree in education or a related field from an accredited college or university AND four years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree in education or a related field from an accredited college or university AND six years of related experience. Must hold or be eligible for Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) professional educator’s certification.
Preferred Qualifications:Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following: Professional licensure/registration in nutrition and dietetics • ServSafe® Certified Trainer • Experience in local school nutrition procurement and contracts management • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) • Experience in contract management and procuring foods and supplies • Experience in planning and conducting training • Experience in interpreting state and federal laws • Experience working with the public and interacting with a diverse range of people
Salary/Benefits: Pay grade L – Annual salary range $40,983.00 (minimum) to $71,720.00 (maximum). Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment, relevant education/training and work experience. Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance; annual/sick leave; and Teachers Retirement or Employees’ Retirement.
