 LEA Monitoring and Technical Assistance Unit


Title I, Part A is a part of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB). This act provides federal funds through the Georgia Department of Education to local educational agencies (LEAs) and public schools with high percentages of poor children to help ensure that all children meet challenging State academic content and student academic achievement standards.

The Title I, Part A Program Unit is a division of the Education Support and Improvement. The Unit provides technical assistance, resources, and program monitoring of LEAs to ensure that all children have an opportunity to obtain a high quality education and to achieve proficiency on high academic standards

  • Technical Assistance - Our Title I Education Program Specialists, Grant Program Coordinators, and other Program Specialists interpret State and federal law and provide guidelines for implementing Title programs, address specific questions and concerns regarding Title programs, and provide information and assistance in implementing various requirements and guidelines.
  • Resources - Our division provides a number of electronic tools and documents to local school districts to ensure effective program implementation. We also provide regional meetings and a statewide summer conference for local school district and school personnel to provide professional development in areas related to the implementation of Title programs.
  • Monitoring - Our division regularly monitors Title programs at the local level to ensure compliance with regulations as well as to assure the quality of the program and the instructional delivery being utilized with at-risk populations.
