 FY10 Title II, Part D ARRA Competitive Grants


Summary

The Instructional Technology Division of the Georgia Department of Education announces the FY10 Title II, Part D ARRA Competitive Grants pending final State Board of Education approval on June 10, 2010. Completed grant applications are due by 3:00 PM on May 13, 2010. Assistance in completing grant applications is provided by ETCs/RESAs.

An orientation session hosted by the GaDOE Title II, Part D staff is scheduled from 2:30 to 3:30 PM April 22, 2010. All interested LEAs are encouraged to read through the guidance and attend this session. Session details and login information have been provided through an email to all Superintendents and District Technology Coordinators.

The Ed Tech ARRA funds provide an unprecedented opportunity to implement 21st century classrooms using innovative strategies that enhance instruction, facilitate teaching and learning, and improve student achievement (see http://www.ed.gov/programs/edtech/guidance-arra.doc).

There are four FY10 Title II, Part D ARRA Competitive Grants:

21st Century STEM Labs
This grant will increase student participation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics studies.
Increasing Student Literacy
This grant will increase student reading, writing, and digital literacy.
eTextbooks
This grant will create a self-funding model to provide netbooks and digital learning materials.
Blended Learning Opportunities
This grant will create a self-funding model to provide increased access to instruction.
