State Advisory Panel (SAP)

Our federal lawmakers in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) created special education advisory panels for all states to ensure representation from constituents who are concerned with providing improved educational opportunities to children with disabilities. Georgia has a very active State Advisory Panel for Special Education with broad representation from across the state which makes panel members valuable participants in the process of advising the Georgia Department of Education (GA DOE) regarding the development of state improvement plans, state grants, and other initiatives affecting the education of all children with disabilities in Georgia's schools.

The Georgia Department of Education Division for Special Education Services and Supports is currently accepting applications for the State Advisory Panel for Special Education (SAP). The SAP is comprised of parents, persons with disabilities, educators and administrators who are knowledgeable about the education of all children. SAP members provide input and advice into meeting the statewide needs of students with disabilities. Membership Application
