Statewide K-8 Reading and Math Program
The purpose of the Statewide K-8 Reading and Mathematics Program is to provide schools with funds to implement a research-based reading and/or mathematics program and to enable schools to improve instruction and student learning in reading and mathematics.
Each school must develop a plan for reading and mathematics instruction that is an integral part of the School Improvement Plan. Expenditure of funds must be based on the plan. All funds must be used for materials, professional development, after-school programs (including transportation), and/or personnel for direct instruction.
All Georgia public school systems, State Schools, and charter schools are eligible for the Statewide K-8 Reading and Mathematics Program. Funding is allocated based on total system FTE, free/reduced lunch percentage, and student performance on the Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests.
Systems must complete an online survey which outlines proposed expenditures of the funds.
