EOCT Content Descriptions
The EOCT Content Descriptions, available below, describe how the standards
set forth in the state’s curriculum are assessed on the EOCT. Developed for
educators, each content specific document provides information about the content
assessed, and is based on the work of Georgia teachers. Only the knowledge,
concepts, and skills addressed in the curriculum will be assessed in the EOCT.
The EOCT Content Descriptions are in no way intended to substitute for or
supplant the curriculum. They supplement the curriculum by providing more
descriptive information about how content will be assessed. Furthermore, the
EOCT Content Descriptions do not suggest when concepts and skills should be
introduced in the instructional sequence; rather, their purpose is to
communicate when concepts and skills will be assessed via the EOCT.
Beginning with the 2005-2006 school year, the EOCT will be based on the
Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) for Language Arts and Science. The EOCT
Content Descriptions have been revised to reflect the GPS in those content areas
and are provided below. The documents relevant to the Quality Core Curriculum
for those content areas transitioning to the GPS will remain posted to assist
with the interpretation of test results from previous school years.
