 Autism Assessment Project

ANCA is Back!

In an effort to build capacity for working with students with moderate to severe cognitive and/or developmental disabilities, the GaDOE and Marcus Autism Center (MAC) will continue to collaborate in offering training for selected staff to better meet the needs of young children with autism spectrum and related disorders. This initiative will help teachers, psychologists, SLPs, and related support staff to:

  • Administer and use data from the ABLLS-R to guide the development of logically sequential IEP goals and objectives

  • Understand and use principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and Discrete Trail Training

  • Use a variety of data collection tools to measure student growth

  • Use classroom set up and visual schedules to meet the needs of individual students within the classroom

  • Conduct functional behavior assessments and develop appropriate positive behavior supports for students displaying significant behavior challenges

ANCA training is free, but participants are required to purchase a Scoring Instructions and IEP Development Guide, as well as one protocol. A kit which includes the Guide and 1 protocol can be purchased for $64.95 at one of the following sites, Western Psychological Services (WPS) or Partington Behavior Analysts.

Participants will be required to identify one student to assess using the ABLLS-R, and to use results to develop logically sequential IEP goals and objectives.  Materials and competency measures for this child will be used throughout the training series as a case study.  Thirty hours of seat time verification will be provided to participants at the conclusion of the training with proof of ABLLS-R administration and presentation of case study results.

Training will be provided in central and north Georgia for the 2013-2014 school year.  Participants will be required to attend 2 two-day sessions. The training is the same in each location, so training days/locations can be interchangeable if needed.  Daily sessions will meet from 8:30-3:30 with one hour for lunch on your own.

Please note that the initial dates are tentative. In the event rescheduling is necessary, participants will be notified by email a week in advance.
