The plan is required under the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act, which was signed into law in August 2006. The purpose of the law is to help fully develop the academic, career and technical skills of students in secondary and post-secondary institutions and prepare them for high-skill, high wage and/or high-demand jobs. A draft version of Georgia’s Five-Year Plan will be available on the GaDOE’s website on Feb. 15, 2008. The plan will be posted at http://www.gadoe.org/ci_cta.aspx?PageReq=cictaperkins . Public comment can be submitted one of three ways -- in person, in writing or by phone. IN-PERSON : The GaDOE will hold two public hearings in February to gather input on the five-year plan.
