Job Title:Language and Literacy Mentor - Literacy Mentoring for Leadership Initiative Grant

Description of Duties:Under limited supervision, the Language and Literacy Mentor through the Literacy Mentoring for Leadership Initiative Grant provides leadership and support for communication and implementation in four key areas:
• Professional Development Delivery- Plans and facilitates professional learning opportunities for a variety of audiences (teachers, administrators, literacy coaches), which may include providing support through instructional coaching, mentoring, professional development, technical assistance, and/or classroom demonstration, as well as workshops and online staff development
• Coaching/Mentoring- Provide support and resources to literacy leadership teams and school-based literacy coaches in the area of effective instructional techniques for ELA/Literacy K-3 curriculum, assessment, and instruction
• Collaboration- Work with literacy leadership teams and school-based literacy coaches to facilitate the coordination of the ELA/Literacy K-3 curriculum, assessment, and instruction with the total curriculum
• Data Analysis- Designs and implements a plan to use multiple sources of data to intervene with students and adjust practices
• Occasional overnight travel is required
• Additional duties may be assigned

This position is grant funded.
Minimum Qualifications:Master's degree in education or a related field from an accredited college or university AND Four years of related experience OR Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field from an accredited college or university AND Six years of related experience. Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) professional educator certification. Submit a copy of GaPSC certification with resume and cover letter or with application. Applicants who fail to submit the required documentation will not be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess the following;
• Master's degree in education Reading and Literacy, Reading Education, Early Childhood Education
• Strong written and oral communication skills and technology competencies to administer the grant activities as well as a basic understanding of assessment, data analysis and program evaluation strategies
• Strong knowledge of evidence-based practices for teaching the range of reading, writing, listening, and speaking and assessing student progress toward achievement of benchmarks in the K-3 setting
• Experience as an effective professional learning facilitator
• Ability to evaluate and implement literacy instructional programs
• Knowledge and experience working within a Response to Intervention (RtI) framework
• Experience consulting with teachers about early literacy instruction, interventions, and assessment
• Experience with data collection, analysis and interpretation
• Evidence of strong written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills
• Experience working in a virtual environment
• Experience using varied digital media to communicate with learners
• Experience with Program Evaluation methods.
• Must be self-directed and self-motivated with a strong work ethic
Salary/Benefits: Salary/Benefits: *This is a grant-funded position, the hiring salary is $70,000. Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
