Description of Duties:Description of Duties: Under limited supervision, manages the English Language Arts (ELA) program which includes the supervision of ELA staff. Duties and responsibilities include planning for and implementing the K-12 Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE). This ELA Program Manager will perform duties and responsibilities in accordance with state law, and State Board Rules for ELA GSE, and the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) vision, mission, and goals via the Strategic Plan. Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Aligning curriculum initiatives from different divisions and programs and developing and fostering effective relationships with DOE divisions, local school systems, Regional Educational Service Agencies, ELA Advisory Council members, and other education entities to encourage collaboration, effective communication, and implementation of program goals
• The ELA Program Manager will work with staff and the ELA Advisory Committee to plan, schedule, and organize ELA professional learning activities, which includes the GSE for teachers, school and district administrators, and staff from Regional Educational Service Agencies (RESAs)
• The ELA Program Manager will be responsible for working in collaboration with stakeholders to develop and refine ELA resources, including electronic and web-based resources
• Develop an innovative literacy program
• Develop and schedule web-based and face-to-face professional learning activities
• Develop, interpreting, and communicate program plans, guidelines for implementation, and benchmarks for success
• Evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of all formats for professional learning; planning and providing technical assistance and services to schools and school systems
• Provide support for professional education staff activities
• Align assigned budgets/funds from multiple sources to ensure maximum fiscal accountability and to avoid duplication of service; and to manage contracts for support services related to the planning, development, and implementation of the GSE and other ELA initiatives

Minimum Qualifications:Master's degree in education, administration, public administration or a related administrative field in the area of assignment from an accredited college or university AND L-5 certification AND Two years of program management experience in an educational setting.
Preferred Qualifications:Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• Master’s degree in K-12 education, K-12 educational administration, or a related field
• Experience in managing online web-based resources and professional learning delivery models
• Experience in K-12 ELA at the school, district, or state level
• Knowledge of and experience with the ELA Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE)
• Knowledge of English Language Arts and literacy instruction for K-12 students
• Experience developing and providing professional learning both in electronic and face-to-face formats
• Experience in managing educational budgets
• Experience managing and accessing online resources
• Experience managing educational contracts and grants
• Excellent presentation, interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)
Salary/Benefits: Salary/Benefits: Pay Grade N – Annual salary range $52,331.12 (minimum) to $91,579.45 (maximum). Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment and relevant education/training and work experience. Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
