Description of Duties:

Under general supervision and according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), performs professional accounting duties, such as recording financial transactions, preparing standard accounting reports, and providing information to auditors and other third parties.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

·         Drawdown cash from federal and state systems

·         Maintaining cash management spreadsheets and monitoring cash balances in all bank accounts on a daily basis

·         Preparing weekly bank deposits

·         Collecting payments for schools/school districts and individuals for students enrolled in Georgia Virtual School

·         Analyzing accounting data and transactions to ensure accuracy

·         Analyzing, recording, and interpreting financial transactions

·         Reviewing, maintaining, and analyzing information to ensure compliance with administrative procedures

·         Posting General Ledger adjustments

·         Providing input into accounting policies and procedures

·         Analyzing and reconciling accounting data and transactions that requires knowledge of complex rules and regulations and use of research and/or problem-solving skills

Minimum Qualifications:Master's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university OR Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university AND One year of professional accounting experience OR Bachelor's degree in a business curriculum which included completion of introductory and intermediate accounting sequence from an accredited college or university AND One year of professional accounting experience. Note: Some positions may require certifications.
Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:

·         Experience in governmental accounting, specifically accounts receivable/cash

·         Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting

·         Participation in the State Financial Management Certificate Program

·         Experience utilizing Teamworks (PeopleSoft) Accounts Receivable Module

·         Experience utilizing Federal Cash Drawdown systems and Office of the State Treasury Drawdown system

·         Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access)

Strong organizational skills
Essential Job Functions:
Salary/Benefits: Pay Grade I – Annual salary range is $29,973.63 (minimum) to $52,453.85 (maximum). Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment and relevant education/training and work experience. Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
