Description of Duties:

Under limited supervision and aligned to school improvement efforts, designs, manages, and coordinates statewide professional learning activities for teachers and leaders to improve student achievement.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

·         Providing overall leadership to and collaborating with Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) staff and other agencies external to the GaDOE to provide systems and schools guidance and training for school improvement; managing/supervising professional staff; ensuring effective collaboration with Regional Education Service Agencies (RESAs) and GaDOE staff and programs, particularly the GaDOE regional support teams and school improvement specialists

·         Developing both immediate and long-range strategic plans for professional learning activities; and providing leadership and coordination for the following school improvement activities

·         Coordinating development, design and implementation of teacher and leader training

·         Coordinating state training for system and school instructional leaders

·         Identifying and collaborating with exemplary educators to assist with training

·         Coordinating and providing all trainers with content knowledge and skills for delivery of professional learning

·         Developing and supporting state school improvement specialists and District Effectiveness Specialist working with targeted and comprehensive schools

Submit a copy of the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) professional educator certification.  Applicants who fail to submit the required documentation will not be considered.

Minimum Qualifications:Master's degree in education or a related field from an accredited college or university AND Five years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree in education or a related field from an accredited college or university AND Seven years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, have experience in the following:

·         Master’s degree in education, education administration or a related field and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a supervisory/administrative or teacher-leader role in professional learning/staff development at the school, system, or state level

·         Working knowledge of current research on school improvement and professional learning initiatives/programs

·         Must have knowledge of performance standards and instructional design

·         Must be self-directed and self-motivated with a strong work ethic

·         Doctoral degree

·         Experience with K-12 school improvement programs

·         Experience with program monitoring, data collection, reporting, and facilitating the necessary technical assistance to ensure not only compliance, but quality programs for students

·         Strong knowledge of Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)

·         Experience implementing comprehensive school reform programs or initiatives

·         Experience conducting program evaluations

·         Five or more years’ experience in a building-level or system-level leadership role

·         Successful experience with designing, planning, developing, and conducting professional learning programs that are job-embedded and focused on impacting student achievement

·         Experience with training and supporting professional staff as well as training module development 

·         Experience with performance standards and instructional design 

Essential Job Functions:
Salary/Benefits: Pay grade N – Annual salary range is $52,331.12 (minimum) to $91,579.45 (maximum).  *Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment, relevant education/training and work experience.  Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement
