Description of Duties:

Under limited supervision, develops and implements a statewide comprehensive K-12 school counselor program which impacts student growth in these three domain areas:  career development, academic development, and social/emotional development. The focus will be placed on career development with academic development and social/emotional development supporting the career development area.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting local systems with the implementation of a comprehensive K-12 career guidance and counseling program

  • Developing and implementing programs that promote career awareness at the elementary level, career exploration at the middle school level and career development at the high school level

  • Providing technical assistance and professional learning for local school systems on the implementation of seamless student transitions from K-12 to post-secondary and career opportunities

  • Providing technical assistance to local school systems on the effective use of the counselor companion, interest & aptitude assessments, career pathways, career centers, individual student graduation plans, and serving as a team member or leader for onsite compliance reviews and/or technical assistance site

Submit a copy of the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) professional educator certification.  Applicants who fail to submit the required documentation will not be considered.
Minimum Qualifications:Master's degree in education or a related field from an accredited college or university AND Five years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree in education or a related field from an accredited college or university AND Seven years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:

  • Master’s degree in education, education administration, career, technical, and agricultural education, or a related field

  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), and five (5) years of experience in the career guidance/counseling area at the local K-12 school system or state agency level (this experience includes guidance/counseling experience promoting career, technical, and agricultural career pathways)

  • Previous successful experience as a K-12 classroom teacher

  • Previous successful administrative experience in K-12 education

  • Considerable knowledge of and experience with CTAE programs, students, and teachers

  • Previous successful experience with implementing and maintaining a career center

  • Specialist degree or higher in education

  • Previous success providing professional development in school counseling

  • Excellent writing skills, verbal communications, and research experiences

  • Ability to analyze and use data for decision making related to career guidance and counseling

  • Previous successful experience in the development and implementation of innovation guidance and counseling programs

Essential Job Functions:
Salary/Benefits: Pay Grade NAnnual salary range is $52,331 (minimum) to $91,579 (maximum).  **Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment, relevant education/training, and work experience.  Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
