Description of Duties:

Under general supervision and according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), performs professional accounting duties, such as recording financial transactions, preparing standard accounting reports, and providing information to auditors and other third parties.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

·         Analyzing accounting data and transactions to ensure accuracy

·         Analyzing, recording, and interpreting financial transactions

·         Reviewing, maintaining, and analyzing information to ensure compliance with administrative procedures and travel rules and regulations

·         Performing operational analysis of accounting system(s)

·         Auditing financial documentation such as employee expense statements, travel advances, and registration payments

·         Balancing and processing monthly and quarterly payments

·         Performing travel reconciliations

·         Preparing specialized and standard accounting reports and providing information to auditors and other third parties

·         Making General Ledger adjustments

·         Providing input into policies and; analyzing and reconciling accounting data and transactions that requires knowledge of complex rules and regulations and use of research and/or problem-solving skills

·        Performing operational analyses of accounting systems, subsystems, and procedures to ensure accuracy of data, to ensure compliance with GAAP, and to identify improvements in the methods for recording, maintaining, and reporting financial transactions

Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university OR Bachelor's degree in a business curriculum which included completion of introductory and intermediate accounting sequence. Note: Some positions may require certifications.
Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:

·         Experience in governmental accounting, specifically accounts payable

·         Bachelor’s degree in accounting

·         Participation in the State Financial Management Certificate Program

·         Experience utilizing PeopleSoft Accounts Payable modules

·         Experience utilizing Concur travel system and/or travel processing software

·         Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access)

Salary/Benefits: Pay Grade H – Annual salary range $27,248.75 (minimum) to $39,500 (maximum).  **Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment, relevant education/training, and work experience.  Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
