Description of Duties:

Under broad supervision and in accordance to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), performs professional accounting duties, such as recording financial transactions, preparing accounting reports, and providing information to auditors and other third parties. 

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

·         Analyzing accounting data and transactions to ensure accuracy

·         Analyzing, recording, and interpreting financial transactions

·         Reviewing, maintaining, and analyzing information to ensure compliance with administrative procedures

·         Performing operational analysis of accounting system(s)

·         Monitor and reconcile multiple Federal and State Grants,

·         Preparing specialized and standard accounting reports and information for auditors and other third parties

·         Making General Ledger adjustments

·         Providing input into policies and procedures and/or developing and maintaining budget and financial records for a section or unit

·         Analyzing and reconciling accounting data and transactions that requires knowledge of complex rules and regulations and use of research and/or problem-solving skills

·         Performing operational analyses of accounting systems, subsystems, and procedures to ensure accuracy of data, to ensure compliance with GAAP, and to identify improvements in the methods for recording, maintaining, and reporting financial transactions

·        Responding to inquiries for resolution of accounting problems or for information or interpretation from third parties such as banks, auditors, vendors and governmental entities; and notifying appropriate personnel of pending audit actions 

Minimum Qualifications:Master's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university AND One year of professional accounting experience OR Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university AND Two years of professional accounting experience OR Bachelor's degree in a business curriculum which included completion of introductory and intermediate accounting sequence from an accredited college or university AND Three years of professional accounting experience. Note: Some positions may require certifications.
Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:

·         Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting

·         Experience in managing multiple State and/or Federal grants

·         Experience in governmental accounting

·         Completion of the State Financial Management Certificate Program

·         Experience utilizing Teamworks Financial application

  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access)
  • Strong organizational skills

Salary/Benefits: Pay grade K – Annual salary range $36,268 (minimum) to $63,469 (maximum).   Hiring salary is based on current employment, relevant education/training and work experience.  Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
