Description of Duties:
Under limited supervision, provides leadership for the development and implementation of a new statewide K-12 Cafeteria Learning Lab program.  Duties include, but are not limited to, working collaboratively with other state and local subject matter experts  to integrate academic standards into cafeteria operational practices to increase active learning opportunities; developing a framework for learning progressions and end goals in this new program; developing a rubric for earning special designations for successful implementation and achievement of active learning goals; promoting peer mentoring programs between high school students and younger students, specifically emphasizing food sourcing, agricultural education and farm-to-school  initiatives.  Successful candidates will be able to develop lesson plans and accompanying activities in conjunction with training provided for cafeteria staff that utilize applicable K-12 academic standards; developing and conducting appropriate professional learning in conjunction with School Nutrition staff; developing guidelines for an annual award for cafeteria/lunchroom programs that demonstrate exemplary achievement in the implementation of the program. Candidate will serve as the state level liaison between the Curriculum and Instruction Division, Nutrition Division, and the Career, Technical and Agriculture Education Divisions; establishing an effective communication network for disseminating and collecting pertinent education information for the successful implementation and operation of this program.  Note: Extensive statewide travel is required.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Master’s degree in education, education administration, nutrition, nutrition education, health or a related field and at least five (5) years of professional level experience in a role/role(s) that includes operation or implementing food service programs in a variety of settings.  Knowledge of state and federal education law and policies is required. 
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• Experience in School Nutrition and importance of the role of school cafeterias/lunchrooms in overall educational achievement
• Significant knowledge of farm-to-school initiatives in agriculture. 
• Significant knowledge in staff development/professional learning for nutrition education and /or food service education
• Experience at the school, local district, or state level in supervising/monitoring for compliance with federal and state rules and regulations.
• Experience in developing, implementing and evaluating new programs 
• Excellent oral and written communications skills
• Excellent presentation skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Pay grade N– Annual salary range $52,331 (minimum) to $91,579 (maximum).  Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment and relevant education/training and work experience and available funding.  Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement
