Job Title:Migrant Education Resource Specialist (3 positions)

Description of Duties:
Under general supervision, coordinates and monitors the delivery of services (both direct and indirect) for Migrant Education Programs (MEP) to eligible migrant students age 3 to 21 (who have not graduated high school) through local education agencies (LEA) in an assigned geographical region.  Duties include communicating verbally and in writing, working closely with school district staff in assigned regional area to develop and provide meaningful academic support, advisement and career counseling to migrant children and youth; making regular on-site visits to school-based staff to evaluate and plan delivery of MEP funded services; meeting with building-level certified staff to coordinate MEP funded services with other support service programs and providers; developing and delivering staff development sessions for staff in regional area systems unfamiliar with migrant student and out-of-school youth  needs and best teaching practices for improving migrant student achievement; assisting in the identification and delivery of services to students with “priority for services;” monitoring and assisting in the maintenance of records of services provided to eligible students in regional area; providing out-of-school migrant students with academic assistance options within the community; assisting eligible migrant youth in enrolling in educational programs such as HEP/CAMP, PASS, or Plaza Comunitaria; acting as liaison to agencies and organizations established to serve adolescent migrants and their families; preparing program reports as required; and performing other duties as assigned.  This position involves significant travel within assigned geographic region (South East, Georgia) and occasional statewide travel.  This position also requires availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
We are recruiting for three (3) positions; one position is located in Brooklet, GA and two positions are located in Lenox, GA.  *All applicants MUST specify either Brooklet, GA (Bullock County) or Lenox, GA  (Cook County) location in their cover letter.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in education, school counseling, human services, organizational development, community development, planning, or a related field, four (4) years of experience working with schools, non-profit organizations, and/or public agencies in migrant student services or other student services.  Note:  Must demonstrate knowledge about federal and state migrant education programs’ guidelines and requirements. 
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• Georgia Teaching Certification
• Master’s Degree in education or a related field
• ESOL endorsement
• Three or more years of teaching limited English proficient students
• Experience working with Latino students and families
• Bilingual in Spanish and English
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to successfully collaborate with school personnel, staff, students, and other support agencies
• Demonstrated competency in self-motivation/initiative
• Experience teaching and/or counseling high school age youth
Pay Grade K – Annual Salary ranges from $36,268 (minimum) up to $63,469 (maximum).  *Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment, relevant education/training and work experience and available funding.  Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
