Job Title:Hourly Bus Driver - (Atlanta Area School for the Deaf)

Program/Unit:Atlanta Area School for the Deaf/ Division of State Schools
Description of Duties:The candidate is under the supervision of the school Maintenance supervisor.
Duties include but are not limited to:
• Provide a means of transportation for students/staff of the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf
• Responsible for meeting state driver licensure requirements and obeys all laws for operation of a school bus
• Enforce normal school system and/or state regulations while transporting groups;
• Maintain a safe environment within the bus by enforcing rules of conduct and responding to emergencies
• Cleaning the bus at the end of each trip
• Remain with groups on all trips
• Demonstrate courteous and respectful behavior with students, staff and the general public
• Prohibit food and smoking or unsafe conduct on bus
• Perform pre and post trip safety and maintenance checks
• Advise supervisor of any maintenance or repair needs
• Complete records of all trips and submit the records weekly
Minimum Qualifications:
1.) 1-year of experience and/or training involving driving a passenger vehicle
2.) Knowledge of:
• Basic motor vehicle and school bus operation local and state traffic ordinances
• School bus safety policies and procedures
• Local and state roads and highway sufficient to locate specific locations and addresses
• Vehicle maintenance requirements, records and procedures
3.) Must have a valid Georgia Class B COL with PS endorsement driver's license
4.) Must pass background check
5.) High School Diploma or equivalent
6.) Must be at least 21 years of age or older
Preferred Qualifications:
Salary/Benefits: NOTE: This is a temporary/part-time, hourly posiiton with no benefits. The rate of pay is $20 per hour.
