The Georgia School Assessment on Performance Standards (GSAPS) is currently being revised to reflect the intent and focus of the new Georgia’s Systems of Continuous Improvement. The revised review processes for schools and districts will align with the new district and school Comprehensive Needs Assessment and Improvement Plan templates. During this revision process, the previous GSAPS tool will not be used to review Priority schools or districts. The revised school and district review tool will be implemented during the 2018-2019 school year.
Prior to the ongoing revision of the GSAPS, the review was an onsite assessment of a school’s progress toward meeting the Georgia School Performance Standards. The GSAPS was conducted by an experienced team of educators who collected a variety of data from multiple sources (classroom observations, interviews, surveys, focus groups, and assessment documents) to assess the status of a school on each of the standards. Following a GSAPS, a summary meeting was conducted to provide the school with commendations, recommendations, and a rating for each standard in the Georgia School Performance Standards. The results of the GSAPS were used to inform the development and implementation of school improvement initiatives.
