Did You Know?
SLDS has a Training Center for Parents
The Training Center for Parents is a place where parents and students can go online to review videos and user guides for various tiles (applications). There is even a training module where districts and school administrators can schedule a session with an SLDS trainer to work with their staff to help the educators find the resources they can share with parents and students. This will definitely boost family engagement, particularly during these times.

On the right is an image of the parent flyer (infographic). The flyer can be shared however the educator or administrator feels will be beneficial. A Spanish version is also available.

Testimonial
Dr. Noreen Freeman, professor at Piedmont College, shared this memo with an SLDS trainer via email:

"This memo is written with sincere appreciation to you, for taking the time to spend with our teachers. We were extremely grateful for your time and effort. Your presentations were well-planned, and very informative. How did we not know so much about GaDOE and SLDS. You are doing great work, getting the information into the hands of administrators but more so teachers (who truly need it). Our teachers were still in awe as to know how much information is housed in SLDS. They were amazed that they could use the data on their students during upcoming conferences. They additionally loved the teaching resources, as well as the fact they had a profile presence on the platform."

Dawn MacDonald, Academic Specialist at Liberty Elementary School in Liberty County, shared this via email:

"Our teachers were happy to learn about all the additional data available by digging down into various reports. The trainer guided us through the many resources available in SLDS and kept to the time frame of our PLC. We greatly appreciated this useful and timely professional training by digging down into various reports."

Teachers Receive TKES notifications on their SLDS Dashboards
The Teacher Keys Effectiveness System (TKES) is a common evaluation system designed for building teacher effectiveness and ensuring consistency and comparability throughout the state. The TKES tile on the Teacher Homepage provides a notification feature that alerts a teacher that a task has been performed in their TKES. Clicking on the bell will display the notification message./span>

Featured Training of the Month:
SLDS Lexile and Reading Comprehension
The training session focuses on literacy/competency data and the use of that data. It stresses why the Lexile data within SLDS is important to establish literacy strategies. The attendees will learn how to identify students who struggle with reading comprehension. The session will also include information on the Lexile & Quantile Hub that has recently been added as an SLDS tile and menu item for both teachers and administrators. The session will allow ample time for hands-on participation by the attendees. To sign up for a training click Training Request Form.
Prerequisite: Data Overview

Online Training Opportunities
The SLDS training team continues to provide training on the Statewide Longitudinal Data System (SLDS). We have adapted to providing this training online. Each session is tailored to suit the audience in attendance and the allotted timeframe provided by school or system level personnel. All sessions are designed to be "hands-on" so attendees should have access to computers during the sessions. Once a training request is received through email or the Training Request Form , a GaDOE trainer will reach out to the requester to discuss training options to meet the needs of the school or system.
