Each SLDS Ambassador will be a champion to whom others can look for support and information about applications provided through SLDS by the Georgia Department of Education. Since these teachers will be “point people” for their schools, enrollment into the program will require Administrator approval & evaluation. Teachers, if you would like to develop a more thorough understanding of how SLDS can help you in the classroom, please register.  Administrators, feel free to encourage your teachers to register in this program.

The program is designed for individuals who are serving in the classroom and who have teacher-level access into SLDS. Monthly online meetings will begin in September 2021 with a completion date in March 2022 for a total of six online meetings. Each online meeting will be 90 minutes in length with an expected additional hour of personal time spent each month outside of meeting time.

One of the goals of the program will include monthly feedback to the supervising administrator of the Ambassador-in-Training. The program anticipates an environment where the Ambassador-in-Training is obtaining valuable data and information which can/will be utilized by their administration within their building. This approach will increase the capacity of the Ambassador-in-Training as well as increase knowledge and awareness for other staff within the building.

Upon successfully completing all the requirements of the year-long course, participants will earn a digital badge, a certificate of completion, and the distinction of being called an SLDS Ambassador.
