The Georgia Student Health Survey (GSHS) is an anonymous, statewide survey instrument created by the Georgia Department of Education in collaboration with other state partners. The GSHS is administered online each year to students in grades 3-12. Middle and high school students (grades 6-12) participate in the standard survey and elemetary students (grades 3-5) participate in an abbreviated survey. Survey results assist in the identification of safety, climate, and health issues that impact student achievement and help guide school prevention and intervention strategies.
FY22 / FY23 Georgia Student Health Survey
Revised in FY22, the Georgia Student Health Survey is an anonymous and statewide survey instrument that covers various topics such as school climate and safety, peer and adult social support, bullying, mental health, substance abuse, and suicidal ideation. There's also a brief survey for elementary students that includes school safety and school climate questions only.
This crosswalk document can be used to align student survey questions from the FY20 GSHS, the FY21 Student Wellness Survey, and the FY22 GSHS.
FY21 Student Wellness Survey
The Georgia Student Health Survey was not administered during the 2020-2021 school year. Instead, we developed a brief Student Wellness Survey which was administered to middle and high school students. Results from the Student Wellness Survey provide districts and schools with data regarding the non-academic barriers to learning being faced by their students.
This document provides helpful information about the Student Wellness Survey and the Georgia Student Health Survey, how to access the data, and a table to compare survey questions from both surveys.
This document aligns the Student Wellness Survey to the Georgia Health Standards.
