 Blended Learning Opportunities


Summary
The Instructional Technology Division of the Georgia Department of Education announces the FY10 Title II, Part D ARRA Competitive Grant for Blended Learning Opportunities pending final State Board of Education approval on June 10, 2010.

The FY10 Title II, Part D ARRA Competitive Grants for Blended Learning Opportunities are designed to create a self-funding model that can be replicated throughout the state for using technology to provide blended learning opportunities for students that result in improved math and science scores, increased student engagement, and improved student 21st Century skills and technology literacy. Through the FY10 Title II, Part D Blended Learning Opportunities grant, the GaDOE will provide two high schools with netbooks, a learning management system, and digital content.

Eligible LEAs may apply to support any eligible high school with a student population of approximately 1,000 students.

The primary goals of the FY10 Title II, Part D ARRA Competitive Grant for Blended Learning Opportunities are to:

  1. Investigate and create model blended learning environments that can be leveraged across all school districts in Georgia.
  2. Provide teacher professional development in the use of blended learning environments to differentiate instruction and improve student engagement.
  3. Increase student technology literacy by providing students with the opportunity to use digital tools and resources.
  4. Increase parent engagement through training sessions demonstrating the purpose and use of blended learning opportunities at home and school.
