Description of Duties:
Provides American Sign Language (ASL) voice interpreting and services for students, staff, and visitors of the Georgia School for the Deaf (GSD). Duties include, but not limited to:  interpreting for classes, various meetings, staff development activities, assemblies, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings; interpreting for individual staff and students;  providing  professional learning to faculty and staff as needed; collaborating with the school’s ASL Specialist , ASL teacher, and school administration to support continuous development and emphasis on the bilingual culture at the GSD; coordinating professional learning including after school ASL classes for families, community members, and staff  (beginner, intermediate, and advanced as needed) as well as ASL or other related instruction for staff and/or students by appointment or as assigned during the school day; and completing any assigned documentation. Note: Off-campus interpreting may require overnight or weekend travel.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Hold current national Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification (NIC, CI, or CI & CT)
• Possess interpreting skills at the “Advanced Plus” level or higher based on the Sign Language Proficiency Instrument 
• Possess strong ASL to English AND English to ASL skills
• Possess some experience working in a school setting
Preferred Qualifications:
• Five (5) years of interpreting experience in a K-12 education setting, and/or
• Completion of a Sign Language Interpreter Program with three years of experience as an interpreter, of which two (2) years are in an educational setting
Hourly pay based on qualifications and experience.  No benefits.
