Job Title:Education Program Manager (Food, Distribution Unit) – School Nutrition

Description of Duties:
Under limited supervision, effectively manages the Food Distribution Unit (FDU) for the School Nutrition (SN) Division of the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE). Duties include developing, implementing, and monitoring a divisional strategic management plan consistent with the GaDOE’s strategic plan; developing, implementing, and evaluating a divisional operational plan; coordinating cross-training efforts with other School Nutrition units to maximize effectiveness and relevance of  strategic and operational planning activities; coordinating divisional research activities; developing and implementing an annual plan of work for the FDU consistent with the division’s strategic plan,  operational plan, continuation calendar, state performance expectations, and budget limitations; collaborating with other School Nutrition Division units/programs to conduct needs assessments and develop training opportunities local and state staff; recommending and/or drafting statewide policy regarding the school nutrition program’s regulatory issues; evaluating qualitative and quantitative effectiveness of  program efforts and analyzing evaluation results and following-up on deficiency areas; budgeting allocated funds consistent with federal and state authority; planning and monitoring unit expenditures, supervising processing of obligations and expenditures for the FDU and reporting on activity; making effective presentations to a variety of audiences and organizations, facilitating an effective system of communication; advancing regulatory compliance and program enhancement among local and state school nutrition personnel related to areas of responsibility; managing the USDA Foods Program; analyzing pertinent issues and initiating innovative projects that result in program improvement; and effectively supervising, motivating, and leading professional and administrative staff.
Minimum Qualifications:

Must hold or be eligible for and obtain the required P-12 School Nutrition Certification from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC). A Master’s degree in education, education administration, nutrition/dietetics, business, or a related field and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a supervisory or administrative role responsible for the operations of the School Nutrition Program at the system or state level.  This experience must include developing and implementing operational plans and managing budgets.   Note:  Must submit a copy of GaPSC certification with cover letter, resume, (or application) and salary history.  *Applicants who do not submit the required GaPSC document will not be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• One or more year of experience in a leadership or administrative role responsible for operating a School Nutrition program in a local school system, state agency, or college/university
• Experience successfully developing and implementing strategic management plans
• Knowledge of warehousing, procurement and contracts
• Knowledge of public relations and communications
• Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills
• Excellent writing skills
• Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)
Salary/Benefits:
Pay grade N – Annual salary range $52,331 (minimum) to $91,579 (maximum).  Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment, relevant education/training and work experience, and available funding. Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement.
