October
20, 2015 – In
an effort to continue building relationships with business and industry and
provide relevant career education in Georgia’s schools, the State Board of
Education last week approved State School Superintendent Richard Woods’
recommendation to hire an Economic Development Liaison position at the Georgia
Department of Education, within the Career, Technical & Agricultural
Education (CTAE) division.
The
new Economic Development Liaison, Richard Goble, brings 30 years of business,
education, and military experience to the role. He will create resources for
CTAE educators and partners; oversee a Business & Industry Advisory Council
for the GaDOE; and work with business and industry representatives, local and
state officials, and other stakeholders to strengthen economic development
efforts in Georgia.
“It’s
essential that our students are prepared to thrive in our changing world,”
Superintendent Woods said. “Mr. Goble will help us strengthen our relationships
with business and industry so we can provide real and relevant future
opportunities for Georgia’s kids.”
Previously,
Goble served as General Sales Manager/Finance Manager for Jasper Jeep Chrysler
Dodge. Prior to that, he was Director of Business and Industry for
Chattahoochee Technical College. He holds a Master of Business Administration
from American Public University in West Virginia and a Bachelor of Business
Administration (Marketing) from Northwood University in Michigan.
Goble
also served as a Sergeant/Munitions Systems Specialist in the United States Air
Force from 1985 to 1991.
“Our
CTAE mission is to educate Georgia’s future workforce by providing experiences
for Georgia students that will prepare them for workplace success,” State CTAE
Director Dr. Barbara Wall said. “Our new Economic Development Liaison will work
with local CTAE leaders to assist them in connecting with local business
leaders in an effort to contribute to the solution of Georgia’s workforce
needs.”
This
new position is part of the Educating Georgia’s Future Workforce
initiative, which aims to increase collaboration between the education and
business communities.
