March 26, 2019 – April is the Month of the Military Child, a time to celebrate and honor the sacrifices and experiences of military children.

On Wednesday, April 10, State School Superintendent Richard Woods suggests that each local school district have their faculty, staff and students wear purple to honor and show support for the children of military families in Georgia’s public schools.

“As the child of a military family myself, my staff and I remain committed to providing the support military families need for their children’s well-being and success while serving our country,” State School Superintendent Richard Woods said. “I recognize the resilience military children have developed and the experiences they may face as a family and we are here to support them.”

Schools and districts can share photos and updates from their Month of the Military Child recognitions using the hashtag #GAMilitaryChildMonth, or send them via email to social@doe.k12.ga.us.
